Religious liberty and the healthcare mandate

I see that my Roman Catholic friends are coalescing around the concept of "religious liberty" in an effort to defeat any access to contraceptive services to be offered under the new health mandate. Fighting against contraceptive services is the right of anyone, but to tie it to "religious liberty" seems to be such a misuse of that concept in the name of trying to defeat the major Democratic initiative of our time. The Roman Catholic church is a voice in the wilderness for the poor and downtrodden. To get off on the religious liberty tangent, is causing all of us to lose site of the whole, which is to give the poor access to health care. I pray that we can reason with one another and come to see that helping the poor should be our main concern. When will we rally about that?
